From the Principal

Joyful Noise

Welcome to another school year. Already it is Wednesday - day three! Routines are being established, boundaries and expectations set, friendships are re-connecting and new ones are forming each day. Monday morning was a beautiful way to begin the year, gathering together at line-up and sharing coffee afterwards. I shared with our community that while the week before school starts is a special time with staff, something very important is missing: you, our students and parent community. On Monday morning, we certainly heard the “joyful noise”.

Psalm 100 encourages us to “make a joyful noise to the Lord,” and here at our school, that joyful noise can be heard every day—in playground laughter, classroom singing, squeals of delight, the joy of mastering new skills, thoughtful questions, shared prayers, and acts of kindness.

Our joy does not come from everything being perfect, but from knowing that God is good, faithful, and always with us. As we love to learn and learn to love together, may our words, actions, and attitudes continue to be a joyful noise that honours God and reflects His love to others.

May this year be filled with God’s blessings in the small and the big things.

This Thursday 5 February (tomorrow), there is an opportunity to meet with the classroom teacher as a group of parents.

Kinder 3.10 pm – 3.25pm
Prep 3.30 pm – 3.45pm
Year 1/2 combined 3.50pm – 4.05pm
Year 3/4 combined 4.10pm – 4.25pm
Year 5/6 combined 4.30pm – 4.45pm

These sessions will go for 15 minutes per class group. The purpose of these is to hear from the teacher and their expectations for the class as a whole, and for the teacher to get a feel for the parent cohort.

Welcome BBQ

Thursday 5 February at 5.00pm (after the meet the teacher sessions) we will gather together as a community and share a free meal – sausages and burgers are on the menu. You are all invited to attend as a family, young and old.

Parent Partnership Sessions

Monday 16 March and Tuesday 17 March.

You will have an opportunity to book in a 10 minute meeting with your child’s classroom teacher. Invitations to book a suitable time slot will be sent to you shortly. This is an opportunity for you as parents to share your deep hope for your child this year at school, as well your perception of your child’s strengths and areas of growth. As parents you are the ones who know your child best, and we want to work with you to allow all children to flourish this year.

Invitation to Nominate Class Parent

As part of strengthening communication and partnership within our school community, we are introducing the role of Class Parent in each class. This volunteer role provides a friendly point of contact for parents, helping to clarify information, share reminders, and support positive communication between families and the class teacher. If you are approachable, organised, and willing to serve your class community in this way, we warmly invite you to nominate yourself for this role. This role sits within the Community Engagement committee and successful parents will be asked to commit to meeting with the CEC once per term.

Please email mlouw@channel.tas.edu.au with your willingness and reasons why you would like to serve as a class parent. The leadership will decide with the teachers who this person will be for each class group.

Channel Rhythm Jumpers are back in 2026!

Calling all Year 4 to 6 students, Channel Rhythm Jumpers is back and ready to launch on 17 February 2026!

If your child loves to jump, skip, and move to the rhythm, this high-energy after school program is the perfect fit. It is a fantastic opportunity to stay active, build new skills, and have a blast with friends!

More than just skipping, Channel Rhythm Jumpers promotes teamwork, endurance, and perseverance. Through fun routines and group challenges, students will learn the value of practice, coordination, and working together to achieve their goals.

When: Every Tuesday afternoon - 3.00 - 4.00pm
Where: ARC
Cost: $10 per child/ per term via Qkr App (no cash)
For sale: $21.00 skipping rope via Qkr App

Spaces are limited, so don’t miss out! A permission slip will be sent home this week - please return it to the school office as soon as possible as well as payment to secure your child’s spot.

Prayer Wall

Be thankful for a great start to the new school year for all.
