On Thursday the Year 3 - 6 students ventured down to Calvin Christian School for the CST Cross Country. The sun was shining and it was a wonderful day out, with all of our students doing a great job in their races, competing against Calvin, Northern, and Emmanuel Christian Schools for the big trophy!
The cheering was loud and the atmosphere electric as the first race began, and it ended with a photo finish as Harvey D and a runner from Calvin tied in first place for the Year 4 boys. Channel continued to compete well with a number of top 3 finishes, including Elspeth finishing 2nd in the Year 4 girls event, Elijah 3rd for Year 3 boys, Maple 2nd and Daisy 3rd for the Year 3 girls, Melinda 2nd and Sophie 3rd for the Year 5 girls, and Beth 2nd and Liv 3rd for the Year 6 girls. The Year 5 girls were especially competitive, with 8 out of the top 10 places taken up by Channel runners!
In the end Channel fell just short of taking home the trophy, coming in a respectable second place to Calvin.
Overall the carnival was a great event, with the students from all the schools helping to create a competitive but friendly carnival. Well done to all involved, and a big thanks to the staff who helped out on the day and to the parents and families who gave their support.
