Leading data informed change in schools
In today’s world, change is happening all the time—and in schools, that’s no different! One important way we keep improving is by looking at data. At our Christian school, we do not use data to compare or put pressure on anyone. Instead, we use it to help us make thoughtful choices that support every child’s learning and growth.
Recently, our teachers have been gathering data about how students are progressing in Literacy and Numeracy. As a whole staff, we spent time looking at this data together. We looked at it from a whole school lens, a class lens and then to the insights of individuals. The insights from the data helps guide planning and provides opportunities to celebrate. It was such a positive afternoon—full of great conversation and insights into how we can keep supporting your children well.
In a similar way we are also collecting feedback about our school through a community survey. I had the joy of going through this with our Year 5 and 6 students. Their honest and thoughtful responses really moved me—they showed care, maturity, and a genuine desire to help our school grow.
As parents/carers you would have received a similar survey last week. If you haven’t had a chance yet, I would really encourage you to set aside half an hour to complete it. Your feedback helps us reflect on how we are doing, and how we can stay true to our mission in a changing world.
