It’s a Wrap!

What a way to finish the term! We have had Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, a chocolate party, Grandparents’ Day, and—if the weather is kind—Footy Fun Day to top it all off on the last day of school.

The highlight, of course, was the production. What a journey that was! From the first auditions to the final bow, we watched our students step out with courage and creativity. The whole process was filled with growth opportunities through questions like:

• Shall I audition?

• Can I really learn all those lines?

• Do I take on the role Mrs Heit and Mr Richardson have trusted me with—even as stage crew?

• Could I be the one to paint the sets or build the props?

• Will I manage to play the right notes at the right time?

• Can I keep cheering for my friends through yet another rehearsal?

And each time, our students rose to the challenge. That’s building courageous learners and growth right there!

There were so many proud moments along the way: the way students encouraged each other (especially across the double casts), the smiles that told us they wanted to be there, the way parents and special friends filled every seat, and the surprises we saw in students who discovered gifts we didn’t even know were there. Add to that the joyful sounds from the Melting Moments Band and the way our staff pulled together through every disruption, tense moments, and last-minute changes, it really was a whole-school celebration.

This term has shown us again that education is about the whole child. When we include the Arts, celebrate each child as made in God’s image, and grow together as a Christian learning community, our children discover more of who they are as God’s precious children.

May you all go into the holidays resting, resetting and recovering, waiting on God to reveal what is in store for us all in Term 4.

Last year, Calvin, one of our sister schools, ran a “Faces of Calvin” portrait competition with great success. This year, the idea has grown into the “Faces of Christian Schools Tasmania” competition, with three of our four schools taking part.

At Channel, every class entered by creating a portrait of someone in our school community; students, teachers, parents, friends, and even our school dog! Entries were displayed in the ARC just before the production, and yesterday we announced one winner from each year level.

Congratulations to the finalists from Channel as they are pictured above. Staff will now vote on the top four entries, one from each category Kinder/Prep, Year 1/2, Year 3/4, Year 5/6, to represent our school in the CST competition next term.
