Speaking the Truth in Love

We have nearly reached the end of Term 2 and will finish the term strong with reports, parent/teacher interviews, RIBIT day and the opening of a new piece of play equipment when the weather is suitable. As we prepare for school reports and parent-teacher interviews, we are reminded of Paul’s encouragement in Ephesians 4:15 — to “speak the truth in love.” These moments are not just about academic progress; they are an opportunity to reflect God’s heart for truth, growth, and grace.

The Bible teaches that Christ, our risen and ascended King, has gifted His Church with teachers, shepherds, and leaders to build one another up. This includes the partnership between home and school. Reports and interviews are part of this ministry — a chance to celebrate strengths, identify areas for growth, and commit to supporting each child together as family and school.

Truth-telling is not always easy. It takes courage, humility, and care. But when done in love, it becomes a powerful tool for transformation. We speak honestly because we care deeply. We listen with open hearts because we trust one another.

So, as you read your child’s report and meet with their teacher, know that these are sacred conversations — grounded in love, shaped by truth, and empowered by Christ. May our words and actions point to the One who is building His Church, one child at a time.

May you all enjoy a refreshing holiday—resting body and mind, perhaps chasing some warmer weather or embracing the Tassie winter, rugged up, splashing in puddles, or curled up with a good book by a warm fire.

On Tuesday, a group of students went to the Symmons Plains to run for our school and represent us in the Tasmanian Athletics Association. It was pretty rough waking up at six in the morning and getting ready for the long drive ahead. 

When we got to school, the sun hadn’t even come up yet and the bus was only just leaving school. The bus left and our adventure had begun. We had a quick stop on the way to Symmons Plains at a petrol and shopping station. About an hour later we arrived at our destination. There were kids everywhere running, jumping or kicking footballs. We set up our tent right next to Calvin and a school called Norwood Primary. 

The first race was the year six boys, then the year six girls. We did really well in the year six girls as Liv and Abby came top fifty. In the year three girls we came top 140 and the boys came around the 150th mark. The first year five girls (Me and Melinda) came 121st and 111th while the others came top 180. There were roughly three to four hundred kids in each race, making it hard for us to get in the top spots. 

As the day drew to an end, we watched Elspeth and the year fours from other schools run around the track as we packed our marquee and got set to leave.

The ride home was long and miserable as the traffic was slow and relentless. We came across a bus that had broken down and was holding up all the traffic. It made our arrival about a whole hour later than it should have been, but in the end it was certainly worth it.

It was hard waking up at 5:00 o’clock in the morning to go to Symmons Plains at Launceston. We got to school and the sky was still pitch black. A few minutes later we started our 2 hour journey. We were all laughing, smiling and enjoying ourselves on the ride to Symmons Plains. When we got there pretty much all we saw were kids. It was a long but fun and exciting day. Everyone tried their best in their race. Chaeu, Fitz, Harvey, Sybrand, Will and me were playing markings up with a handball. On the bus ride home we got to go to the IGA. We got held up so much because a bus had broken down and it took 3 hours to get back to school. Overall it was a very fun day. The End.

We are celebrating the end of a wonderful term (and the beginning of cold winter) with 'PJ Day' next Thursday 3 July.

Come to school in your pyjamas, dressing gown, oodies, ugg boots - whatever is snuggly! 

We will enjoy a special storytime and hot chocolates (dairy-free option available) in the ARC.

This year, our LEGO building gallery will be set up in the ARC, in Week 2 of Term 3. This is earlier than previous years. The school holidays is the perfect time to get inspired and work on your builds. 

Individual builds on any theme can be submitted - maximum measurements 52cm x 52 cm x 52 cms.

Group builds (new category for Channel only) can be submitted, with the same measurement limits, using this year's Science Week theme as inspiration - 'Decoding The Universe - Exploring the unknown with nature's hidden language'.
